FoodSafety HQ installs straight from your browser as an app — no App Store or Google Play needed. It's a Progressive Web App (PWA), so your team can add it to the home screen and use it like a native app: a real icon, full-screen, offline check recording, and push reminders. What it does Installing FoodSafety HQ to the home screen turns the website into an app-like experience without any app-store download. You get a tappable icon that opens straight to the checks screen, a full-screen view without the browser bar, the ability to record checks offline and have them sync later, and push reminders for checks that are due. It's the fastest way to get the app onto every phone on the floor. What you get once it's installed A FoodSafety HQ icon on the home screen that opens straight to the checks screen. A clean, full-screen app without the browser address bar or tabs. Offline checks — record temperatures and checklists even with no signal; they sync automatically when you're back online. Push reminders for checks due, expiring items and open corrective actions. Use cases A manager installing the app on the shared kitchen phone so every staff member taps checks in at the bench. A venue in a cool room or cellar with patchy signal recording temperatures offline that sync once back in range. A chef turning on push reminders so the daily temperature round is never forgotten during a busy service. Step by step iPhone & iPad (Safari) Open Safari , go to foodsafetyhq.com.au and sign in. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow) at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen . Confirm the name and tap Add . Open the app from the new icon from now on. Important for iPhone: push reminders only work when you open the app from the home-screen icon, not from a Safari tab. Install it first, then turn reminders on. Android (Chrome) Open Chrome , go to foodsafetyhq.com.au and sign in. Tap the Install app banner if it appears, or the three-dot menu then Install app / Add to Home screen . Confirm, and the icon is added to your home screen and app drawer. Turn on reminders Open the installed app, go to the Profile tab, switch Reminders on and tap Allow when prompted. You'll then get a daily nudge for checks due, plus alerts for expiring items and open corrective actions. Turn them off again from the same screen anytime. FAQs Do I need to download anything from the App Store or Google Play? No. FoodSafety HQ is a Progressive Web App — you install it directly from your browser using Add to Home Screen. There's nothing to download from an app store. Why aren't my reminder notifications arriving on iPhone? On iPhone, push reminders only work when the app was opened from the home-screen icon (not a Safari tab) and you're on iOS 16.4 or later. Check notifications are allowed for FoodSafety HQ in Settings then Notifications, and that Reminders is on in the app's Profile tab. Does it work offline? Yes. You can record checks with no signal — text, temperature and checklist data are saved on the device and sync automatically when you reconnect. (Offline photo capture isn't queued yet.) Do I have to reinstall when the app updates? No. Because it's a web app, updates are delivered automatically the next time you open it — there's nothing to reinstall from an app store. Still stuck?
