Chemicals & SDS Register

How to manage the chemical and SDS register in FoodSafety HQ: record each cleaning chemical, link its Safety Data Sheet, note hazards and storage, and flag…

The Chemicals & SDS register lists every cleaning and sanitising chemical you keep on site, each linked to its Safety Data Sheet (SDS), hazard rating and storage location. It keeps staff safe around chemicals and shows an inspector you manage them properly and keep them away from food. List every chemical with its Safety Data Sheet, hazard rating and storage location. What it does Records each chemical — product name, manufacturer, what it's used for and where it's stored. Links the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) so the safety information is one tap away. Tracks the SDS expiry and flags any that are missing or out of date. Use cases A staff member needs to know how to handle or store a sanitiser safely — they open its SDS from the register. An officer asks for your chemical register and SDS — you produce both instantly. An SDS is more than five years old — the register flags it so you can request a current one from the supplier. Who can do what Staff can add a chemical they've received to the register. Editing and deleting entries is a manager/admin task. Step by step: add a chemical Open Chemicals & SDS from the sidebar. Select Add Chemical . Enter the product name, manufacturer and what it's used for (e.g. sanitiser, degreaser). Record where it's stored and its hazard rating if known. Upload or link the Safety Data Sheet and set its expiry date. Save — the chemical appears in the register with its SDS attached. Keeping it current Review the register periodically: remove chemicals you no longer use, and refresh any SDS the register has flagged as expired. Store chemicals away from food and food-contact surfaces, consistent with each SDS.
